In order to complete this certificate you must be able to demonstrate the required standards of English and Mathematics skills required to undertake this qualification. This needs to be captured and recorded from an initial assessment which will form part of the portfolio of evidence.
Should you hold current (meaning within the last 5 years) certificates demonstrating your English and Mathematics attainment at Level 2 or above then please upload copies of these documents to Moodle.
If you do not have current certificates then you will need to complete the diagnostics attached within the diagnostics section.
The Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training is a first stage teaching qualification which has a teaching/training practice requirement. It is an 'in service' qualification designed for those working or wishing to work as teachers/trainers in England. It may be possible for pre-service teachers/trainers (defined as those who are not formally contracted as teachers/trainers) to also complete this qualification. All candidates, whether pre-service or in-service must have access to 30 hours of teaching. This qualification is also suitable for those delivering education and training in any learning environment
There is a requirement for a minimum of 30 hours teaching/training practice and a minimum of three teaching/training practice observations, which must reach the required standard of practice.
During the certificate, you will be asked to deliver three one-hour sessions (group learning sessions) that are to be observed and graded. At least one observation needs to be awarded at a grade of level 2, the required grade. We would hope to arrange sessions that you may either attend our attended courses rather than "Moodle Assessment”, or arrange times that we can visit you at your own Teaching and Learning Venue. This is to be arranged to suit all parties involved.
The observed sessions will enable you to meet the full criteria of the award in showing transparency of learning. An observation report for each session will be completed by your tutor and this will be added as evidence within your portfolio. To support this, you will be asked to complete a self-reflection and justification log of approaches to the strategies used.Again, this will be added as evidence within your portfolio.
